Letter from Irene Chaluluka
By Irene Chaluluka

Note from our dear Irene in Malawi, on our staff in Zomba...

Hi Sister,

An item to pray for; Jean and myself will on the 1st April take 30 students to Zomba Botanic Gardens . Jean is a teacher who is making a difference in the lives of students through the WHY WAIT? there are some students who are living with the HIV virus; some had dropped out of school but because of the love this teacher has for her students she followed them to find out the problems that made them drop out of school. She learnt that most of them were child headed families, so she talked to the Ministry officials who are supplying them with nourishing flour for porridge; she has created a "Peer game" where each peer is responsible for the other; at the end of the week they each share if one had gone back to the old habits like sleeping around abuse of alcohol and other unheallthy habits; Saturday and Sunday afternoon they come for an hour to study; these are students who walk ten-fifteen kilometers everyday to come to school. They now happily come to school; we showed the Jesus film and I gave them some Bibles entitled Reach 4 Life-very good for young people who had no hope.

The television people will be with us, the national news paper journalists will be there too; I will send you pictures for this day; we want to tell the country that behavioral change is possible with God provided the youth have commited people who love and care for their welfare.

Something is happening, I am excited-please pray

On 4th April I will be one of the Speakers to a conference which has been organized by the Student Christian Organization of Malawi here in Zomba on "Abiding in Christ in a changing world" on HIV/AIDS from 10:00a.m - 12:00 noon-our God is awesome Jeremiah 29 :11-13; His plans are not our plans and He has a very good purpose for each one of us.

Thank you that you enjoyed these pictures and I thank you because they are in my inbox they are beautiful pictures-You know every Monday morning from 8:00 am to 9:00am we have morning devotion at the Days house.

What a long letter

Happy Easter Holiday my dear Sister Psalms 22

Lots of hugs

Irene
